Rev. Howard Kennon

The Rev. Howard Kennon was born and reared in Chicago.  He recalls that he had fought his call to ministry throughout a 30 year career with Ryerson Steel.  When he acknowledged it, he retired and began studies at McCormick Theological Seminary where he graduated with a Masters of Divinity (M.Div.) on June 4, 1996.  He was ordained by the Illinois/Wisconsin Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) on June 9, and accepted the call to become pastor at United Christian Church in November 1996.

"As the Pastor of United Christian Church, I see our mission as being a place where we can live out God's call to be His community here on earth -- a place where all of God's children can experience the presence of the Holy Spirit in our worship and prayer, in witness to the community as a location for PADS or a place for scouts to meet, a place to play, and as a place for serious study of the Scriptures and what they mean to us in today's world."
