Music at United Christian Church

We are a church that loves music and that is blessed with many musical gifts among its members. In addition to singing numerous hymns during each service, we enjoy weekly music offerings from one of our ensembles or individual members, as well as organ music from our talented organist, Linn Johnson. Our choirs and ensembles also offer extended musical pieces during worship; in the past year these have included selections from Handel's Messiah and Robert Ray's Gospel Mass.

Chancel Choir

Our Chancel Choir sings at most services between September and June. The Chancel Choir presents one anthem each Sunday, in a variety of styles ranging from Classical to Contemporary, including Gospel, early American, a cappella, and other selections. The Choir also provides additional music during the service (a sung "Amen" after the Pastoral Prayer, for example). Anyone who wants to sing and is willing to attend weekly practices may join the Chancel Choir.

The church is currently advertising for a Choir Director. In the interim, the Chancel Choir is directed by Joshua Patty and Howard Kennon.

During the Summer, and on other occasional Sundays throughout the year, members share their musical talents, with vocal and instrumental solos, duets, trios, and even larger ensembles.

Don't be shy! Join one of our choirs. Volunteer to sing or play some Sunday. No musical gift refused! If you don't want to sing, maybe you play the drums...or the piano...or the cello...or the harmonica...or the air guitar. We want to hear you!
